The Federal Bureau of Public Procurement, in partnership with the Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption (ROLAC) programme, has held a training and sensitization programme for procurement officers from federal ministries, departments, and agencies in the North West and North East regions.
The two-day training, held in Kano, aimed to familiarize participants with the revised standard bidding document manual and regulations.
The Head of ICT at the Bureau of Public Procurement, Alhaji Sa'eed Dantala Umar, represented the Director-General, Dr. Adebowale Adedokun, at the programme.
He explained that the sensitization was necessary due to the update of 17 standard documents, which are essential tools for good procurement practices in Nigeria.
The training aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to process standard bidding documents. Alhaji Sa'eed Dantala Umar noted that the programme was designed to ensure that procurement officers in federal ministries, departments, and agencies could implement the Nigerian First policy of the federal government under the Renewed Hope agenda.
The head of ICT commended the high turnout of participants from the North West and North East regions, exceeding expectations.
He emphasized that procurement is a driver of national development and that officers should have the capacity to drive procurement processes effectively.
Alhaji Sa'eed Dantala Umar stressed the importance of procurement officers doing the right thing, with integrity and transparency, to contribute to the glory of all Nigerians.
The training was a step towards building the capacity of procurement officers and promoting good governance in Nigeria.
