Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has officially launched the second phase of the 1,001 Postgraduate Foreign and Domestic Scholarship Programme, with 590 beneficiaries receiving their awards.

The scholarship scheme, initially introduced by Senator Rabi'u Musa Kwankwaso, was revived by Governor Yusuf's administration to enhance the intellectual and professional capacity of Kano youths. The programme aims to position Kano as a hub of excellence and progress.

The first batch of 418 students, who benefited at a cost of ₦5 billion, have successfully completed their studies, with some securing employment overseas. Governor Yusuf congratulated the new beneficiaries on earning their places through academic merit and moral integrity.

The second phase involves 350 foreign and 240 domestic postgraduate students, marking another milestone in the state's journey to build a strong resource base. Governor Yusuf urged the beneficiaries to remain focused and disciplined, serving as worthy ambassadors of Kano State and Nigeria.

The Governor emphasized that the scholarship programme is part of a broader educational reform agenda, with the state allocating 31% of its 2025 budget to education - the highest in Kano's history. He assured that his administration will continue to prioritize education as the foundation of progress, innovation, and prosperity.

Governor Yusuf prayed for the safe travels and successful studies of the beneficiaries, congratulating them on their achievement. He expressed confidence that the programme will yield positive outcomes for the state and its people.

The flag-off ceremony marks a significant step towards realizing the state's educational goals, with Governor Yusuf's administration committed to building a brighter future for Kano's youths.
