Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has received a major endorsement from stakeholders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to run for a second term in the 2027 general elections.
The endorsement was announced on Thursday during a large stakeholders’ gathering held at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, Kano. According to a statement signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, party leaders and members unanimously expressed confidence in the governor’s leadership.
Stakeholders at the event described the Yusuf administration as “performance-driven and people-focused.” They said the decision followed wide consultations aimed at strengthening unity within the APC and ensuring continuity of ongoing development projects across the state.
The gathering highlighted achievements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, water supply, and youth empowerment as key reasons for backing the governor.
“The growing backing for Governor Yusuf reflects increasing public trust in his leadership and governance style across Kano State,” the statement said.
In his remarks, Governor Yusuf thanked the party for the endorsement and pledged to remain committed to delivering democratic dividends to the people of Kano. He also called for sustained unity, peace, and cooperation among stakeholders to strengthen the APC ahead of the 2027 polls.
Earlier, the Chairman of the APC Primary Election Committee and former Sokoto State Deputy Governor, Barr. Muntari Shagari, said he was impressed with the turnout of party faithful who came to endorse the governor for a second term.
The motion for the endorsement was moved by the Deputy Senate President, Sen. Barau Jibrin, and seconded by Sen. Suleiman Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila.
