Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Monday joined his counterparts from the North-West geopolitical zone in Hadejia, Jigawa State, for the official launch of the National Community Food Bank Programme, NCFBP, by the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

This was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa.

The event brought together governors, ministers, traditional rulers and other senior government officials. It is aimed at strengthening efforts to combat food insecurity and improve nutrition among vulnerable households, with particular focus on pregnant women, nursing mothers and children under the age of six.

Governor Yusuf described the initiative as a timely intervention that complements the efforts of state governments to tackle malnutrition and food insecurity across the country.

He reaffirmed the Kano State Government’s commitment to implementing policies and programmes that promote food security, improve healthcare delivery and enhance the welfare of the people, especially the most vulnerable communities.

The National Community Food Bank Programme was launched under the Renewed Hope Initiative. It is designed to provide nutritious food through Primary Healthcare Centres to vulnerable groups as part of efforts to reduce child malnutrition and hunger nationwide.

Governors of Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Katsina, Kaduna, Kano and Jigawa were present to receive the Wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Bola Tinubu, during the historic state visit to Hadejia.
