A meeting of supporters of Atiku Abubakar was held under the Office of the Special Assistant on Voter Engagement and Coordination for the North West Zone, Comrade Idris Ibrahim Unguwar Gini.
In his speech, Comrade Unguwar Gini said the purpose of the meeting was to change the way politics is done.
"Anything that has value, we want it to be part of the political system," he said.
He said every person of good origin who believes in success in life must respect parents and elders.
"As the holder of the Office of the Waziri of Adamawa’s Deputy, the first step toward Atiku’s victory is for us to take care of our parents. Parents should have control over their children, and elders should have control over their descendants. We must stop allowing some politicians to come and distribute rice and money, and lure young people and their wives to vote for what will become a disaster," he said.
Comrade Unguwar Gini said allowing children to do whatever they like without parental guidance causes harm.
"That is why politicians turn children into drug addicts and thugs. They give them money, deceive them and buy them motorcycles. When they win elections, they use them to bring calamity to the community. It is parents who should teach their children what is right," he said.
He said the current situation in the country does not require anyone to come and campaign for them.
"They themselves will see that they need to defeat Tinubu, and Atiku Abubakar is the one who can do it. The first step is to ensure Tinubu does not return, and everything else will follow."
He added that restoring the fuel subsidy that Atiku promised is not a difficult thing.
"Because those who removed the subsidy know they have amassed wealth, and they are still subsidizing fuel for themselves. They are the ones who own the oil wells, they export and they import."
He warned that "If Tinubu is elected again, we will be buying a liter of fuel for N5,000. He has already taken important things from the North to his own area."
Comrade Idris Ibrahim Unguwar Gini expressed satisfaction with the successful meeting. He said it was a gathering of Kano elders who love Atiku’s victory, and everyone attended out of passion and desire for change.
"No one was paid money. We hope to work hard to instill in our children and families the right thing to do in order to secure Atiku’s victory in 2027," he said.
The Chairman of Atiku Abubakar’s Campaign Organizations from 2023 to date, Alhaji Kabir Abubakar Babawo, said he was very happy with the meeting. "We have never seen a meeting like this in Kano. Parents and grandparents aged 60, 70, and 80 attended. This proves to us that we have people who will protect Atiku’s votes. When you see the faces of elders like this at the polling booth, you cannot misbehave," he said.
He said Atiku is a man who respects people and does not belittle or humiliate anyone.
"He is a man of his word. He admits when he makes a mistake and corrects it. Just as the President came and removed the subsidy and people are suffering, but he is comfortable. Atiku will restore the subsidy so that people can have relief," he said.
Alh. Babawo said they see the 2027 election as an election of victory where everyone will come out to vote in order to chase away oppression and bring justice, and to end killings and insecurity.
In his remarks, Professor Ahmad Shehu, Special Assistant to Atiku Abubakar on Stakeholders and Strategy, expressed delight at seeing many elders at the meeting.
He said when Atiku was Vice President from 1999 to 2007, Nigeria recorded economic growth, peace and education. "Atiku is the one who will solve the problems plaguing the people. There is no one who shows less tribalism in this country than Atiku. He sees himself as a Nigerian," the Professor said.
Elder statesman Alhaji Sulaiman Mambo said in his speech: "It is the right of elders not to allow children to be misused. From this meeting, we are telling every politician in Kano to be careful. We will not allow Kano to be destroyed. Kano is bigger than any individual. There is no one in West Africa who does not have a representative in Kano. If Kano stumbles, it will affect the whole of Africa."
He said two things worry the people:
"May Allah protect us from poverty and hunger, and take away fear from us. This is what every leader of Nigeria should do now. Wherever there is poverty, there is hunger. Wherever there is hunger and chaos, there is fear. We want these things eliminated," he said.
