A former Senior Special Assistant to the Deputy Senate President, Hon. Usaini Danbirni Jibrin, popularly known as Usaini Pasi Rahama, has said he and his supporters will vote for former Vice President Atiku Abubakar in the 2027 presidential election because they believe he can rescue Nigerians from the hardship facing the country.

Jibrin, who resigned his appointment and withdrew his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC), spoke during a meeting of Atiku Abubakar’s elder supporters in Kano State.

The meeting was organised by Comrade Idris Ibrahim Unguwar Gini to mobilise support for Atiku ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Jibrin, a former Director-General of Operations, Contact and Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Kano, is currently the National Coordinator of Atiku Action to Save Nigeria (AA-SAN).

He is also the National President of the Groundnut Farmers Youth Network.

Explaining his decision to quit the APC camp, Jibrin said farmers and businessmen had suffered under the present administration, while accusing the government of marginalising the North.

“We know the humiliation farmers have suffered and the disrespect meted out to businessmen. We also know the ethnic bias shown to us. That is why we have decided that, especially as Northerners, no one needs to tell us not to vote for Tinubu,” he said.

Jibrin said he personally met Senator Barau Jibrin and submitted his resignation letter, informing him that he could no longer support President Bola Tinubu.

“I told him I would no longer support Tinubu because I know the calamity we are facing. I cannot point to a single project that has been done for the North, except insecurity, high cost of living, poverty, hardship and ethnic bias,” he said.

He alleged that the North had been left to grapple with insecurity and internal divisions, stressing that Hausa and Fulani communities shared strong historical and familial ties.

“Everything useful in the North has been taken to the South. They have left us with conflict with our Fulani brothers. We Hausa and Fulani are one,” he said.

The former APC campaign official urged Northerners to protect their interests through active participation in the 2027 elections.

He said Nigerians should obtain their voters’ cards, mobilise eligible voters and cast their ballots peacefully.

“Voting is not a big deal. Go, stand in the queue and cast your vote. Maintain good relations with your relatives and neighbours. Let us vote peacefully across the country,” he said.

Jibrin also warned supporters against allowing politicians who do not participate in elections to cause violence or disrupt the electoral process.

He called on Nigerians to support Atiku Abubakar, whom he described as capable of winning the 2027 presidential election.

“We love the Waziri of Adamawa. We will vote for him because we believe he is the one who will help Nigerians and rescue Northerners who are being oppressed. He is the one strong enough to win the election, even if they try to snatch it from him,” he said.
