President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has praised Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf’s maroon cap bearing a broken-shackle emblem, describing it as a powerful symbol of freedom from poverty, illiteracy and insecurity.
The President made the remarks on Tuesday while addressing supporters at the inauguration of his 2027 presidential campaign council at the Presidential Villa.
President Tinubu said he was drawn to the cap because of its clear message of liberation from the challenges hindering national development.
He noted that the broken shackle represents a deliberate effort to break the cycle of poverty and other social and economic barriers, adding that it is more than a symbol - it represents hope, freedom and a new beginning for Nigerians.
Reacting to the President’s commendation, Governor Yusuf said he was elated by the recognition of Kano’s efforts in promoting the administration and the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We rejoined APC with a good heart, with an intention to do our best in supporting Mr. President’s reelection bid,” Governor Yusuf said.
