The Kano State Government has donated N100 million to support victims of the devastating fire in Majia, Taura Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf announced the donation during a condolence visit to Governor Umar Namadi Danmodi at the Government House in Dutse.
According to the governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the donation aims to provide relief to bereaved families and support the treatment of those injured.
Governor Yusuf emphasized the strong historical and cultural ties between Kano and Jigawa States, reaffirming Kano's solidarity with its neighbors during this difficult time.
The governor extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and those recovering from injuries, offering prayers to prevent future tragedies.
In response, Governor Namadi expressed deep gratitude to Kano State for its generous support, assuring that the funds would be judiciously used to aid the victims and their families.
As of Thursday evening, Governor Namadi reported that 167 lives had been lost, with 67 people receiving treatment at various medical facilities.
