In a significant political move, Kano State Governor Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced a major reshuffle of his cabinet. This decision aims to realign his administration and enhance its performance.
Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has announced a significant reshuffle of his cabinet, which takes immediate effect.
According to a statement issued by the Governor's spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin-Tofa, Governor Yusuf emphasized that this long-awaited decision will drive more democratic dividends to the state's residents.
This major rejig is aimed at enhancing the performance of his administration and ultimately benefiting the people of Kano State.
The reshuffle, which takes immediate effect, has resulted in the dropping of several key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, who was let go due to health reasons. The Chief of Staff, Alh. Shehu Wada Sagagi, has also been relieved of his duties, and his office has been scrapped.
The following commissioners have been dropped from the cabinet:
-Ibrahim Jibril Fagge, Ministry of Finance.
-Ladidi Ibrahim Garko, Culture and Tourism.
-Baba Halilu Dantiye, Information and Internal Affairs.
-Shehu Aliyu Yammedi, Special Duties.
-Abbas Sani Abbas, Rural and Community Development.
The following commissioners have retained their positions:
-Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Haruna Isa Dederi.
-Commissioner for Agriculture, Dr. Danjuma Mahmoud.
-Commissioner for Health, Dr. Abubakar Labaran.
-Commissioner for Land and Physical Planning, Hon. Abduljabbar Mohammed Umar.
Several commissioners have been reassigned to new ministries, including:
-Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulssalam, who has been moved from the Ministry of Local Government to Higher Education.
-Hon. Mohammad Tajo Usman, who has been moved from Science and Technology to the Ministry for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.
The governor has directed the dropped commissioners to report to his office for possible reassignment.
